Hehehe.. your fingers a bit numb today Steve?

Oddly I'm quite interested in watching the Mccann docusoap tonight. With events coming out of Austria kinda makes me realise why they want to keep Maddie in the public eye.

It was one-sided to the point of absurdity. None of the dozens of "awkward" but very important questions were put to them.

I could almost sense Clarence Mitchell hovering nervously behind the camera and saying "Can we take that again? Try and make your bottom lip quiver a bit more Kate".

Since they enlisted Carter Ruck libel lawyers and got the apology from Express newspapers, the media are letting the McCanns play them like a fiddle.

The subsequent "appearance" by the McCanns in the News At Ten studio couldn't even be described as an interview, it was just a series of pre-arranged prompts to allow the McCanns to say exactly what they wanted to say.

Can you imagine a pair of official criminal suspects in a child abduction case like Karen Matthews and Craig Meehan being given the red carpet treatment like that?

I think your post represents the general unease felt by many people I know.
Whilst there is obvious sympathy for the McCanns over the loss of their daughter and many doubts about the Portuguese police investigation there is the feeling of many pertinent questions not being asked.

I agree, what say there's another programme featuring them - ITV will be quick to drop schedules and polish their boots. Now, thats fine providing, like you say, important questions are asked TO THEM. Not a case of 'how would we feel in their situation' all the time. Of course it's terrible that a young girl is still missing but their constant pity just doesn't wash I'm afraid and this was all that was evident in last night's McCann Night.

The McCann documentary (if you can call it that) was pointless. It was nothing more than a one-sided, media-sponsored character witness exercise for any potential trial. Let's not forget that these people are official suspects in a serious crime.

Will this bloke from Austria be afforded such favourable media attention before his investigation is concluded: I think not.

But of course, for the McCann's we must all remember that people are innocent until proven guilty. They are surely different.
