I think it used to be even bigger than that in the 4:3 days.

Although it was less intrusive because it wasn't full colour. Even that new DOG wasn't full colour until recently, unless it's because it's the holidays when they usually have a different coloured DOG. The worst for that out of all the Disney channels were Toon Disney and Playhouse Disney back when all of the Disney channels had a consistent look, which permanently had full colour opaque DOGs.

At this point, I'm now nominating the huge, opaque and unsightly DOGs used on Eurosport's channels.

It's annoying how they're just as big on the HD channels as SD.

Nasty opaque DOGs mess can also affect catchup VOD services like BBC iPlayer as well as regular linear channels . . .

I know that thick red bar with the BBC NEWS logo on it is there to cover up the ticker and clock from the transmitted version of the program, but why upload the transmitted version of a show that's usually repeated several times over the weekend? Wouldn't it be far better if they were to take the clean pre-broadcast edit of the show, stick the usual BBC DOG in the top left corner and upload that to the iPlayer servers instead?

Is it like that every week? I remember when I used to watch in the pre BBC iPlayer days (when you could catch up using a WMV or RM feed on bbc.co.uk or a WMV feed on bbcworld.com) it would normally be 'clean' but occasionally you'd get a badly cut recording from News 24. Sometimes, even more annoyingly, the short cut would be the version that made it online.

It's only been like that since the BBC News rebrand.

Before the rebrand, the DOG was similar to the one used now, but the red background only appeared in the area around/behind the BBC News logo, and didn't stretch across the whole screen.

They show it on BBC Two clean, so it is annoying that the iPlayer version has that huge bar on it. The best way to watch Click is (to record) the Monday morning repeat on BBC Two.
