Hi,

First this is not a hoax or trolling attempt.

Many years ago (mid 80's I think) there was an ad on TV which I never understood.

As far as I can recall (although it may not be clear) the ad started with a white background. Then a woman appeared with a vacuum cleaner. She said something then walked away. The camera panned down to the vacuum and just stayed there. About 10-15 seconds passed and a message appeared on screen saying.

"please do not adjust your set, there is nothing wrong with the sound"

Can anyone help?

Was the message part of the advert? It wasn't a superimposed fault message by the channel/transmitter?

i'd be inclined to argue it's a "listen how quiet our new range of vacuum cleaners are" type of advert?

Here’s a mid 80s advert with the tag line ‘Do Not adjust Your Set’ due to the quietness of the machine... but it’s for a Bendix washing machine, not a vacuum cleaner. I’m on the hunt for the ad you’re thinking of though
