Was there good amount of ATV shows going out in 1982? Remember Central had alot of trouble trying to sell of the shares. it wasnt until April 82 something got sorted out, with the rest of the shares going to staff by Jan 83.

Crossroads episodes that were already in the can prior to the name change tended to have a 'Central Presents' slide straight into the programme, ie. no Central or ATV ident. Though I have heard of the ATV ident being seen on non-schools programming, I don't remember it myself.

I actually found on youtube a start of an episode of Crossroads, with the Central Presents caption, fading into the ATV ident.

If I remember correctly, Central played out CROSSROADS from VT via their CCR which would switch a static slide to the network and then cut (or mix) to the VT. Because this switch was carried out by a CCR operator rather than a Transmission Controller, the end result could be somewhat variable.

This may answer our questions, but clearly the Central slide is played in "live".

Shine On Harvey Moon is a strange one. Produced, in the can etc. by ATV in 1981, it has a 1982 copyright date and yet on recent repeat runs has had the ATV Zoom playout at the front of it, suggesting it's burned in on the master tape.

When this went out it would certainly have been a Central contribution to the network. Did they just play their own ident live over the top of the Zoom?

It would seem that way, just because of the odd place we cut into Zoom.

Although their network contributions were far less, was there a similar thing with Westward and TSW? Southwest and Midlands both had some continuity in 1982 unlike the clean break in the Southeast.

I'd say idents were generally burned on simply from them turning up on repeats.

I would imagine so. They certainly did this with other ATV material, eg. repeats of Vet in 1983.

I did notice on that repeat run though that the final episode of the first series DID have a Central front & endcap.
