Nothing serious, but flicking through the channels last night I caught the end of Package Holiday Undercover on ITV1 and noticed they had scrolling credits in the standard EPG format.

I've seen this occassionally with regional programmes, but not an ITV programme. Have they relaxed the rules slightly?

Any programme can break with tradition on the credits providing they obtain permission to do so. It isn't anything new and these days ITV will often just shrink the entire picture anyway regardless of whether the creds are standard or not.

I mentioned this back at the start of the series and do think this is the first time I've seen scrolling credits in the standard format. It looks quite odd really, what with us being used to the cut pages of credits.

As said above any programme can break the rules if they ask first. I find it strange that they decided to use a scroller but keep the generic background. It's not as if there was any reason (such as continuing action) that required this change

Speaking of credits, I see ITV's 2001 corporate credit system (the S bend and the smokey hearts) is pretty much permanent right down to the original masters it would appear.

As that's how they're being presented on Challenge at the moment on certain recent programmes - Lilly's Blankety Blank and the New Play Your Cards Right to name but two. Things look a bit more squashed than before when Challenge do an ECP next to it.

It also applies to episodes of The Bill from this era that are being shown on UKTV Gold, they even have the "NEXT TIME ON THE BILL" thing too....

It's good that they do in my opinion, after all we'd only complain if they'd put the current credits on them and a Granada 2005 endcap!

But that isn't the point, these programmes would seem not to have any proper credits for when the show appears outside of ITV. Just looks out of place on Challenge.

But why does it matter, I can't see the difference between period credits and a period endcap, the show was made to the specification which the commisioning station required at the time
