Rainbow is making a return to your screens after a 13 year absence! From tomorrow you can catch it every day on Nick Jr in the Classics section at 8pm!
Oh happy memories!
And before you ask... no you can't play with my twanger!
Some people quote being 13 years being the time that it was last shown on Thames but UK Gold did also repeat the show on the channels launch at 6am every weekday morning. Not sure how many months it eventually was transmitted for?
I have the full theme song to Rainbow somewhere and I still have the Thames VHS of the Rainbow Christmas Pantomime where Geoffrey starred as Widow Tw.a.n.key!
"Its a banana snowman..." "A banana snowman Zippy? - there's no such thing" I have a good memory for quotes, I haven't watched it since I was 10....honest.
I used to love Rainbow as a kid. Lunchtimes on ITV, just before the ITN Lunchtime News. It was either Rainbow, Allsorts or some seperate show Rod, Jane and Freddy did.
Isn't Geoffrey hard up for cash these days? How much is a repeat fee worth these days?
Which episodes are they playing anyway? The only DVD releases and episodes played on TV at all in the last decade or so have been the later ones, i demand earlier ones lol
i heard the guy who played bungle hated children so much we wouldn't do guest appearances so they had to get a stand in to wear the costume
of course the stand in couldn't talk as he'd sound nothing like bungle so there were a kids upset because they'd seen bungle at a fete or something and he wouldn't say hello to them

I remember towards the end of Rainbow's run (the proper version with Geoffrey, not that blue cat thing), Bungle's voice did change.
The Zippy and George puppets which are currently used for PA's also don't look right. Zippy's become more yellow, and George is way too fluffy.
