Hello, ive just launched a radio statio to broadcast my own show. Now im going to be going through the days news, and a look at the media news also. Discussing the ratings, tv pres ect.
Hearing you loud and clear! I know you've probably covered this...but whats your personal opinion of "BBC one's" new look? Did u manage to see the "red dancers" montage...I feel this was very gracful and the old saying of "you don't realise what you've got till it's gone" came to my head! Do you feel this new look makes "BBC one" stand out from other channels? Peter Fincham said the identity is forward looking...a circle just goes round and round...not forward .
I feel "five" doesn't reach out and draw viewers in...it feels like just another channel on the digi-guide. This is bad considering it was the "UK's fifth channel" and by now should have 'found it's feet' and not be like channels like "Bravo" and "LivingTV". "Fives" programmes always seem to be "the boy who gave birth to his own twin" or the "girl with two heads" . The idea of two new "five" channels is stupid. They are trying to keep up with the BBC, itv and Channel 4 and have got no-chance.
Did you hear of "itv1's" attempt to ditch CITV on weekday afternoons? What's your take on this? When I was growing up CITV and CBBC was a massive part of my childhood...sad to hear this attempt to ditch this type of programming on the main itv1 channel.
I feel the 8 new idents are a vast improvement on the "red dancers"...especially "Maasai", "Music Video" & "Bollywood", which we're very poor. The new idents appear modern, fresh and very classy! Perfect for 'BBC one'. I think the public will react very fondly to them. I'm liking the return (all be it in a very "2006" way) to BBC One's symbol...clocks, globes...CIRCLES. I must say however that I'll be sad to see the back of "Skateboarders", "Festival" and "Tumbler". I know some (if not all) of you disliked the last two...but I found them upbeat and energetic and perfect for weekend viewing and hyping up an intro. And I feel this is why I am very fond of "Football" in the new batch...with the repetitive, dance/electronic soundtrack to emphasize the repetive/looped action in the ident. Although I am very excited about seeing these 8 idents on-screen I've got a slight issue with the musical arrangement...do you think in 2 to 3 years time people will be able to hum the new jingle like they can with the "red dancers"?...maybe not? Anyway, well done BBC and Red Bee...
Radio Today has found a home, it will now be every Saturday at 2pm on On Air 24.
