Which part of the Radio Times didn't you find Christmassey? Was it the Christmassey cover of a Christmas pudding perhaps? Maybe it was the top-page illustratrions of angels that are on all the features pages? No? Well perhaps the inclusion of snowflakes on the corners of programme pages. Not to mention the extremely festive drawings for the programmes pages of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Year's Eve. Then of course the festive drawings that compliment the digital radio and local radio pages. Then of course the message of festive cheer from the editor and of course the bumper Christmas crossword. Apart from all that, no, not really very Christmassey is it!?

Well we took delivery of Christmas Radio Times on Saturday at Tesco, but for some reason the 'powers at be' want to wait until we have the special stands at the end of the checkouts before we cn put them out.

We got Whats On TV, TV Quick, TV Choice, TV Times, TV and Sat Xmas editions all this morning.

Got my hands on Radio Times. Morrisons in Lincoln are were only selling the Midlands edition (they usually sell Yorkshire/Tyne Tees also) at the cigarette counter this lunchtime, and only seemed to have about 20 copies. All of the other magazines were out yesterday, in the main store, by the entrance and at the checkouts.

All the magazines were available in Wales today, apart from TV Choice for some reason. I got TV Quick.

Cheapo TV listings mag?TV Quick,Whats on TV and others are all good mags!

I was once told that you could define the classes of society by their tv listings mag. This was about 5-10 years ago mind you but basically...

Radio Times (upper class)
TV Times (middle class)
TV Quick (lower class)

I'm saying nuffin' Smile

Well, if TV Quick is lower class TV Choice is something you'd step in on the street.

I quite like TV Quick actually - the listings pages are generally far more amusing than any BBC comedy. They also seem to pick things out, such as next weeks "When Jordon Met Peter" focusing on their Christmas Day celebrations, a week or so before Christmas - and they weren't together last year!

I was in the supermarket earlier today and accidently knocked one of the RadioTimes of the shelf! So I thought I might as well buy it. Razz

I must say, lots of festive repeats this year - especially in the film department. I am pleased to see (the original) Mr Bean in the schedules as of course Keeping Up Appearances. Its like travelling back to the 80's/90's and 2000's in one go with these schedules. Looking forward to the 100 Greatest Christmas Moments on Channel 4 and AN HOUR of festive Top Of The Pops 2! - Can't remember seeing Festive TOTP2 last year; if it is only to watch Roy Wood kick that child at the very end of the 'Wish it could be xmas..' video!

Christmas Eve has a LOT on that I want to watch and as I am still in the VHS recording age - I'm going to have trouble keeping up with it all!

I see poor old Bill Turnbull is stuck in the Breakfast studio the Christmas Day. Laughing

I agree, the Christmas schedules are looking pretty good this year - brand new Dibley will be particularly good.

And Bill's solo performances on Christmas Day Breakfast have become a traditional and legendary part of the festivities, he seems to have been doing it every year for ages! I wonder if there'll be any festive hat incidents this year...!

It's either poor Bill, or lucky Bill.

Poor Bill as he's having to work Christmas Day, though lucky Bill as he just has to do the morning stint, will get paid a hell of a lot for working Christmas Day and then he gets to spend the rest of the day enjoying himself!

I think you're probably closer to the truth there - it'd be worse doing the other main shift of the day, which is all the other news bulletins (Darren Jordon this year). As you say, Bill's likely to get paid a lot and he'll probably get home at about the same time the rest of his family get up.

In many ways I think the Boxing Day or New Year's Day morning shifts must be worse as you can't have a lot of fun the night before.

I used to work in apetrol station and had to do anight shift on Christmas Eve. I got home Christmas morning at 7.45 opened presents and then went to bed until 3.30 when I got up, had Christmas dinner watched telly until 8pm and then got ready to go to work again at 10! What a wasted Christmas that was, so I sympathise with people working on Christmas Day just for our benefit. Believe me, although you get paid loads for working Christmas Day, all you want to do is be at home with your family. After all, not everything is essential in life, and seriously, do we really need news on Christmas Day unless a major news item breaks? All the headlines are is The Queen's Speech, The Royal Family at Church and people who did silly things on Christmas Day.
