They have lots of odd jingles and theme tunes they play between songs. Today it was the Roobarb theme.

"Jeremy Vine, Jeremy Vine, Jeremy Jeremy Vine!"

Actually this talk of radio studios reminds me that when Mark and Lard were on Radio 1 in the afternoons, there was a week around the turn of the century where there studio was bring refurbished, and so instead they did the show from the television studio at BBC Manchester, with a Radio 1 Roadshow desk plonked in the middle, and it was so big they had races around it while the records were playing.

That stirred some memories of an old webcam shot I saved back in the day...a bit of digging in old folders and look what turned up!

Must have been around the time Studio A was decommissioned but before they locked everyone out completely.

Can anyone remember the period when the Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Virgin was briefly simulcast on Sky One around 1998/99?

On a related note, Notts TV simulcasts the first 3 hours of the Gem 106 breakfast show every weekday morning.

They did make Life On Mars in there a few years later I think though (though as a four-waller on film).

You know, a "radio show with pictures" at Breakfast isn't too bad an idea. Listen on the radio when you wake up and get a shower and get dressed, watch on TV while you have breakfast and then listen on your commute.

Probably would have been a better idea when a true simulcast was possible and the delays could be mitigated so there wasn't a big echo at you move between rooms using different platforms.

Yes with the mic branding covered up with them playing music videos for the hour (I think?) it was on.

Yes, it was the 8 to 9am part of the show. There was a Betacam VTR in the studio, and that would be used
to play the pop videos out. There were only about 5 or 6 tracks per show anyway, I can't remember what happened for commercial breaks ?

I presume they timed the advert breaks to be the same time on both Virgin and Sky, can't really remember now. But it would make sense.

Would it be Chris Evans or Today? They are the two most popular radio programmes in the morning. Chris has 9.8m listeners per week and Today has 6.9m.

The MOTD2 show on Sunday afternoons is basically a radio show on TV, though presentation wise more of a TV show on radio. They always use the standard BBC Sport set though rather than the football set (which in theory would be available as it airs between the two weekend MOTDs).

Why does it have to be one or the other? Today already comes from a video equipped studio I believe.

I think I'm right in saying that you can watch 5 Live's studio online.

Kermode and Mayo's Film Review is almost always available to watch online (they upload many of Kermode's reviews to the website after), unless they've been moved to Millbank due to Racing from Chilcot.

You are correct about the 5 Live studio. I just wasn't sure if you were thinking in terms of a news programme or an entertainment programme. Also, they are the programmes with the best reception (along with the programmes on other analogue BBC radio stations).
