Just had to copy and paste this from BBC News for you to give your silent comments and opinions....
""BBC Radio 3 will be airing more than four minutes of complete silence on Friday... by design.
The BBC Symphony Orchestra is to give a performance of composer John Cage's seminal piece 4'33", which does not contain a single note.
Radio 3 is to broadcast the entire composition live, even having to switch off its emergency system which cuts in when there is apparent silence.
The performance takes place on Friday night at London's Barbican Centre.
It is part of a weekend of Cage's work. The late avant-garde composer "wrote" the piece in 1952. John Cage died in 1992 ""

And for those who've forgotton how to work the old wireless, the concert is repeated on BBC Four television from 20:30 onwards.

I wonder if this will produce record breaking audience figures for BBC Four for the second evening in a row?

What I LOVE is the way Radio Times make it clear in their Radio 3 section that tonight's performance is the one arranged for a "LARGE" orchestra!

How will we know if they hit a wrong note?

Ah, Malcy, you'll need a finely honed musical ear for that.

Having seen some of the rehearsals, I like the way the conductor is making sure all the artistes turn the pages of their music at the same moment.

It could actually be quite good fun to watch.

So the piece is just silence? So why do they need an orchestra? And if it is silence, will the orchestra have their instruments?

But worth waiting for, you'll find.

And the earlier items in the programme will probably be of somewhat higher quality that a repeat of Alan Titchmarsh watching the grass grow or Jonathan Ross turning a half-decent quiz show into an "expletive-a-thon".

I caught the tail end of a report on this on Breakfast this morning (with shot of frozen orchestra and conductor).

Just before the gentle bickering between Bill and Sian about whether 2012 should be 'twenty-twelve' or 'two thousand and twelve'... Very Happy

With music like this... we can all have a rave in a field in the middle of nowhere with out the Fuzz confiscating our equipment... peace and love

It's not complete silence, we'll hear the turning of the sheet music every so often.
They will have their instruments as it's the last piece in an hour or so of music

I'm going to be very disappointed if it's out of tune!
