Last night on BBC Four - Post-closedown and apparent silence over the usual slide. Then I heard a slight 'whispering' despite having no other sounds on, and for a mo I thought I was going mad!
Amping-up the TV volume however, revealed opera music - so I naturally checked Radio 3 and sure enough, the song matched up. It's so quiet (almost inaudible) at normal levels, that the broadcast of the music on the channel definitely wasn't deliberate.
So, perhaps someone would care to explain why this was leaking through? Maybe it's always been that way, but I've only just discovered it, so I'm curious to find out why!
Sometimes I find that if I have something tuned in on another channel, such as an Xbox or the VHS, the audio from that is 'bleeding' through to whatever I'm watching, similar to how you describe.
It's definitely not that, as that would require two active sources - one broadcasting Radio 3, the other showing BBC Four - both outputting at the same time. This was from a single source; there was no other signal from anything else that could have conflicted.
I know what you mean though, that sort of 'interference' has happened before - usually as a result of crossed cables in my case, AFAIK...
Something strange i found 2 weeks back .Listening to radio on a normal radio and tuning around on 88.1 in the daytime heard the cartoon the rugrats in german and then i think toy adverts in german and thinking it was nickelodeon germany. Then in the evening was indian programmes. Now i hardly get it may be the slight indian sound but not very much.
I think it might be a leaky cable ,i have virgin media but that has no nickelodeon germany just nick uk but the next door neighbour has sky digital but not sure if nickelodeon germany is on that. strange.

All these reports are rather odd. With regards to the FM reception, I would hazard a guess that someone in your locality is using an FM transmitter device and you just happen to be able to pick it up. Such devices used to be illegal but are now legit, thanks to some change in the law that allowed iTrip type devices to be used in-car. As for the Radio 3 on BBC Four during downtime, maybe there's some sort of crosstalk in your setup somewhere...
No idea what the cause could be. There are very few places in the chain where you can get a bit of good old-fashoned analogue crosstalk. Everything is digits these days, and digits don't behave like this!
You may have to experiment a bit to try and narrow it down. See if you can hear it on other quiet channels, including off air channels displaying the blue/yellow message screen?
One more thought. Do you have an FM tuner anywhere in your system, and is it tuned to Radio 3? If so try changing the station to see if the background noise is also changed.

You received cable sounds through a radio!?!
Wire an FM radio to an cable connection and you'll find allsorts of wonderful things
Back in Lincoln three-four years ago I used to get the sound of The Box and Sky Movies 1 through on FM frequencies, as well as BBC Radios 1-5, Radio Nottingham and Trent FM.
They are a legacy feature of the analogue television service they once provided. Presumably the audio of the television channels was for people who wanted stereo.
Made a recording of last night's BBC Four downtime, and the music is there again - so I suspect it'll be heard tonight too...

Tried it on an off-air BBC channel and it's just completely quiet.

I don't have any other tuner that could be conflicting. Apart from the Sky box itself, there is no other equipment here that could output Radio 3.
