Just heard on Sunday Surgery that Emma B's doctor co-presenter (Mark? Jeremy?) has run out of the show as his wife is now in labour - waters have broken........

Has this happened before on television?

> I think it's happened to a couple of snooker players - Matthew Stevens and John Higgins come to mind having to leave tournaments when their babies were due.

I know it wasn't live, but on the filming of Red Dwarf episode "Thanks for the memory", Craig Charles had to leave because his girlfriend was in labour.

It's also falsely reportedthat Director Ed Bye was absent fron "White Hole" for the same reason. According to the season IV DVD, the birth was earlier in the week- he was off because of food poisoning.

Freddie Flintoff missed a recent ICC Trophy match and Michael Vaughan missed one day of a Test Match this summer for the same reasons.

.

Cathy Tyson ISTR, according to my memory/something I read, was Craig's lady at the time.(Please correct me if I'm wrong though!)

This also created a continuity error(I also read about), because Lister had broken his leg, & had a plaster cast on one leg, & one point, the stand in takes over, & the plaster cast is on the other leg!

Paul Ross' partner telephoned him live on the Big Breakfast one morning to say that she had just given birth. [/factoid]
