The other day I heard some dancy type music on radio 1 before the news and it sound very BBC Newsish but I didn't bother taking any notice.

Today I've noticed it's still in use and is a piece of corporate style music. Now i'm not going on about the newish music being used for Newsbeat but there is a build up piece they're using before the main Intro bed.

How long have they been using that? (It's very upbeat and dancy)

It seems to be a main lead-in to the intro bed before the main "sting", yes.

I've only noticed it this week as well, so I think it can only be a few days old.

Yeah, I actually thought it was a song the other day when it started playing and turned the volume up - then I was blasted with RAAAADIO 1. Laughing

AFAIK it's a Scott Mills piece that he used into the news which has been taken up by Chris Moyles (the new breakfast presenter) in recent weeks. Mills has had it for ages though.

Is that the one that seems to start with a few pips? I thought that was introduced a week or two ago, and seems to be used for the headlines at 15/45 at breakfast time (including the new 6.45 one). It almost sounds like a remix of the 2000-2001 Newsbeat theme.
