As we've got a Radio 1 thread, what do people think of their Christmas Day schedule...

7.00 Chris Moyles Christmas Special
10.00 Scott Mills with highlights from 2005
13.00 Sara Cox, Spoony & Vernon's Christmas Lunch
16.00 Radio One's Chart Show with JK & Joel

The first three programmes will obviously be recorded, the latter one is live though.

Breakfast has usually always been live on Christmas day. Scott Mills did it last year!

Although Chris Moyles' Christmas shows in the past have been pre-recorded. For someone who moans in all seriousness about having to work on a bank holiday Monday, I would be extremely surprised if his Christmas show was live.

There's no way Moyles would work Christmas Day. In the Radio Times it even says 'Recorded live... at Charlotte Church's mum's pub in Wales'

Moving on to Christmas week 26th-30th December:

5.00am Fearne and Reggie's Music Requests
7.00am Spoony
10.00am Chappers and Dave (Boxing Day/Tue), Annie Mac (Wed/Thur/Fri)
1.00pm James King's Movie Review/Preview of 2005 (Boxing Day/Tue), Colin and Edith's A to Z (Wed/Thur/Fri)
4.00pm JK & Joel

At a time of year when radio audiences may be quite significant in the daytime (due to people listening in the car whilst on their way to DFS!), I find James King (who?) and Annie Mac a bit of a poor schedule.

Where's Miquita?
I also wouldn't have bothered with the 5am show and therefore would have put Fearne and Reggie in the daytime

And talking about Sara Cox, I think she's my 2nd favourite DJ on Radio 1, maybe its a northern thing

Thats a shame if it is recorded. I remember last year Breakfast was quite good with Scott. Lots of people were phoning in to say what they had got for xmas.

I doubt Scott Mills would do it any more - he's reached that magic level where you're simply not going to do an early morning or Christmas show!

I find it quite amusing that Fearne and Reggie are doing a live show at 5 in the morning on Christmas Day. And JK and Joel of course. I get the impression they would do a live show every day of the year if they were asked to.

You think that it'll be live. My guess is that it will be an extended "My Tunes" show, which both JK & Joel and Fearne & Reggie pre-record as part of Early Breakfast, and will also be voice-tracked before hand.

Yes Fearne and Reggie will no doubt be recorded. Considering the small audience at 5am on Boxing Day/all Xmas week, I would just have put on 'The Best of OneClick" or similar

Well that's what I would have said originally, but how can you do a pre-recorded requests show?

You'd be surprised how many stations can make that fit around their voice-track schedule.

Although it would mean that rather than getting a couple of presenters in, you'd have to get a bunch of pre-recorded links, and one lowly tech-op trying to stick it all together and make it sound slick. Given that it's Radio 1, I'm sure they could persuade someone to be live.

They could always take requests in the preceeding days and shove a show together "listeners top 20" or whatever. Like yourcall on a delay.

What makes you think Your Call is live anyway?
