And in HD. Great, because the picture quality from the ob's on ATR sometimes is beyond dreadful.

I'm not sure the picture quality is all that important. Have you seen the stuff Racing Post Greyhound TV put out on Frontrunner? Seems to get sufficient audience to be viable (at least to keep the sponsors happy), and gets plenty of audience interaction through the evening, despite even the studio stuff looking distinctly sub-VHS quality, let alone the OBs.

Could perhaps confuse some with F1 and Racing channels but about time it was brought under the brand.

Could, but probably won't.

Your average sports fan would know the difference between Sky Sports F1(18,000 horse power), and Sky Sports Racing (1 horsepower)

What's the live delay like with channels on Now TV? Obviously the racing channels (and their advertisers) rely on the broadcast having as little delay as possible. I wonder if we'll see some special DOG/disclaimer/etc. if necessary?

I'm sure the bookies advertising would be quite happy with the delay, from what I have read ATR already has abit of a delay and can't be relied on for in-running betting.

Chester and Bangor are switching to ssr but it has lost all the Irish racing. Talk is ascot could end up with sky.

What is the status with Sky Sports F1 now - didn't that used to be available to all HD subscribers?

Used to. Now it's in the Sky Sports sub structure.

Worth adding that for subscribers who added HD before they got rid of the standalone HD pack, this remains active on their accounts as a legacy option, which still includes Sky Sports F1 for free. Even if you upgrade your subscription they keep the legacy pack active to stop mis-selling complaints from those who subscribed for F1.

It's only if you subscribed after they brough the new packs in which include HD in their top package that Sky Sports F1 falls under the Sky Sports packages.

Best theme tune they ever had though.

It's not the one people remember though - that'd be the Alan Hawkshaw theme (which is a surprisingly popular choice at funerals).

The theme I’m talking about is available on the composer’s site (along with the theme that succeeded it)

The horse racing feeds are they in HD?, in the bookies it’s all SD and the feeds from the grounds I think are SD too.

I don't know if RaceTech have gone fully HD yet, but they're well on the way if not - it's them who provide the actual course coverage.

And so ends the legacy of the failed Channel 4/Arena Racing Company joint venture of the early 00s, when Channel 4’s racing coverage was also branded as attheraces. Best theme tune they ever had though.

I dunno, I still prefer the original C4 Racing theme...
