This could be a pretty pointless thread but I see that QVC have stopped doing the analogue teletext service featuring their different lines of products, tv guides etc. It's probably one of the last services out there in digi land to offer an analogue service. There are two pages left, P100 and P101 which are the same page telling peeps to bugger off to interactive land if they need any further info.
Don't despair, there are many channels that still carry Analogue Text, Nickeolodeon does, Paramount 1 & 2 do, but they have the same service that hasn't been updated in ages, IIRC the 888 doesn't work anymore, it might do for Frasier, but that's it. I think Eurosport still has a million page Teletext service.
Though frankly I'd rather use QVC Active rather than QVC Text to look for something.
Anyone know if Ant Purvis, known in some quarters as "Big Noise" is still responsible for the text services on Nick and Paramount?
Well, I know he has posted on MHP Chat in the past although I'm more of a lurker on there so I can't comment if he does present day though but he would go under the alias/name of "Ant" so that makes life easier!
MTV and VH1 still have a (very) limited text service, which just consists of schedules, which I suppose is handy for the remaining analogue cable viewers without access to an EPG.
Elsewhere, text still exists on: Paramount, Men and Motors, S4C, Travel Channel, TCM, Eurosport, At The Races, Extreme Sports, Racing UK, all EMAP channels, BBC Parliament, CNBC, CNN, Nickelodeon, Sony TV Asia, Zee TV...
Several of the UKTV channels have a BBC "Ceefax has ceased" page.
I used to like reading UK Gold's letters page, which seemed to be full of requests for v.old progs to be shown, & the standard UKG answer was, We've passed your request to our aquiscitions dept to look at', which bearing in mind most requests were for TOTP & The Goodies, seemed to be a fob off IMO !
The irish channels (RTE One, RTE Two, TV3 and TG4) still have teletext on Sky. They have the same service as they broadcast on analogue in Ireland.
If your in the UK and wish to see their teletext service, add the channels to your box yourself. When you tune into them you will find you get a standard Sky error message but you will find that teletext still works. It's the same on all subscription channels, the picture and sound goes but teletext doesn't.
Has CNN still got it's comprehensive text service? My Sky box refuses to put teletext on any channel, so I can't tell!
CNN will have a text service for a very long time as the service is worldwide.
One thought...can you press normal teletext button whilst watching Sky Digital? On my satellite box (not Sky) you can view any teletext page whilst going on the channel and either pressing TXT on the remote or the TV's Teletext button. The first is software rendered from the box, the second is real TV rendered (like on analogue TV)...if that makes any sense
