On audio description - I've yet to hear that being used on any ITV1 programme yet. Any idea when it comes into effect?

It has been around for sometime now AIUI, can I just ask have you been trying to listen out for it on ITV1 London or Scottish TV? For Sky and Cable it only works on ITV1 London, I think on DTT it's regionalised, though correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway back to Quizmania...

Out of curiosity - because I'm rarely up at that time of the night and the only time I see Quizmania is when I stagger in at 3am on a Saturday morning - what happens or has happened when the start time on the SMG channels is different from ITV1? Do the presenters of Quizmania or The Mint welcome viewers in Scotland, or does SMG just crash in cack-handedly 10 minutes in.

Currently enjoying the novelty of having ITV1 London by the way - NTL Digital have just randomly added it to our package.

Did'nt get to see it last night - work commitments. But I noticed in the schedules for Scottish/Grampian last night that it was scheduled to start alonside the rest of the Channel 3 network. Did SMG show any ITV Play idents/logos prior to the start of the programme?

P.S - On the subject of "regional introductions", did'nt Debbie King welcome viewers to Quizmania from HTV(!!!) Wales one night?

Yes she did. ITV Wales often join it later due to them showing more regional programmes.

So... out of interest... who's "made the switch" to ITV2?
I gave the Mint a go, but it's very... no-nonsense. It's just:

Numbers... taking a call... what's your answer... it's wrong... and so on. Laughing

Doesn't have any of the personality QM does.

I have been watching Quizmania since it started but recently grew bored of the presenters (apart from Greg and Lee) but now Kirsty Duffy has started as a presenter I really enjoy it she is a lot better than Debbie King (not only presenting but looking to) and has a good rapor with the camera crew I hope she last longer than Lottie (who also was better than Debbie)

For some reson I cant watch when Chuck is on as he gives me the creeps (he probaly is a nice bloke but I dont know why he does)

It's obviously quite well publised that Quizmania has bought in millions of extra revenue in the ad-free late night slots on ITV1 - but anyone know how it did in the ratings? Did ITV's overnight ratings improve and how did it do in comparison to other channels?

Quizmania has definitely done something, because i work at a Media College, and some of our students have signed a petition to keep Quizmania on ITV1. So keep it! They like Greggles a lot too.

An online petition to get Quizmania (cheap cash cow) back on ITV1 gets 461 signatures. An online petition against Grange Hill (TV institution) moving to Liverpool gets just 152 valid signatures. Can someone explain?

Surely the question begs why are you actually giving any credence to these online petitions ?

Yes. Nearly all of these online petitions are pointles & futile. They very rarely have any effect.

Well it's quite simple. The target audience of Grange Hill don't really care. It's just those with a scary obsession with it.

Grange Hill doesn't have a cult following. It has hardly any followers lately. And I would say it's well past being an institution now, it's gone on for too long.

Anyway, talking of Quizmania, as we should be, something's just occured to me...

Why aren't they taking full advantage of their parent company being The Famous Gameshow Format Company AKA FremantleMedia? Surely they should be running play-along versions of Family Fortunes, Sale of the Century, Blankety Blank etc?

I suppose The Tower is the Blankety Blank supermatch game, but why not brand it as that?
