I had lunch with a friend from ITV yesterday and he casually mentioned that Quizmania is being dropped and replaced by an ITV produced quiz show. He doesn't work in any of the departments involved but he seemed to think this was common knowledge. Anyone heard anything??

With fear of upsetting Jonathan, yes I've heard the same - that a new ITV produced show will start in September replacing QuizMania. Where this leaves QuizMania is another question, but I've also heard Channel 4 and Five might be interested in picking it up...

Whatever happens, there should be announcement sometime this week.

Well there are currently jobs on the ITV jobs website for graphic designers and producers for a ITV1 Late Night Call Show, based in Manchester. The role it says includes working very late nights on Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

Makes sense for ITV to produce their quiz programming in-house, rather than having to split the proceeds with a production company.

And why would Channel 4 be interested in Quizmania when they have their own Quiz Channel ? Talking of which, looks like they reached new lows (or highs depending on your viewpoint) on Quiz Call last night, bikini clad presenters...........

It's not a first - you should've seen something called Bikini Beach (or similar) and other similar quiz segments on low budget satellite channels - female presenters all in equally as skimpy outfits...

What next? Greggles in a bikini? Shocked Laughing

That is the most hideous women I've seen today. There should be a law banning that kind of stuff on TV as that may upset the viewers.

Typical isn't it; they stop making children's and factual in-house but have no problem producing this rubbish. When will they get their priorities right?

Yeah, who-ever heard of a business concentrating on the areas that bring it more revenue... crazy Rolling Eyes !! The day audiences return to factual, I'm sure ITV will return funding.
