The problem is ITV Execs scratch their heads trying to figure out why they are losing their audience, then axe the programmes that most people like. Ok so these quiz programmes aren't very popular but Quizmania definately stood out from the bunch

I agree with your comment about Quizmania. This has probably been mentioned before but two possible reasons are that firstly if QM continued Freemantle Media would have to pay a percentage of QMs profit to the government. The other reason could have possibly influenced the decision to end it is that ITV want to invest money in their own quizshows I know Make Your Play is owned by ITV Productions and I assume the Mint is aswell.

I mentioned this a few pages back, apparently the deal is only good for 240hrs over December 2006 and January 2007. Unless it's been secretly renewed.

This has may been mentioned before but on Monday Nigel Mitchell said that Play DJ Late from 10pm-1am will run for 3 weeks and after 3 weeks, a new show could be introduced or they move/extend the Mint Extra. Have to wait and see.

If they do decide to cancel it after those three weeks it's a bit unfair of ITV to mess Greggles around, I don't think they realise how popular he is

It's hardly messing around, I'm sure Greg will know how long he is going to be there for. The Mint ends in a couple of weeks so Play DJ Late is presumably a filler until the schedule is given a further tweak when the new show starts.

Yeah, I agree. The Mint will end on 28th Feburary and will be replaced by a show called the Glitter Ball, any rumours on possible presenters? Another thing is that according to some forums former QM presenters Lottie Mayor and Debbie King have shown interest in bringing QM back but I'm not going to beat around the bush about it going or whatever.

I haven't heard any presenter rumours, I assume The Mint presenters may be involved though. Just like when the Common Room ended and Tim turned up on TMPB.

Something I have heard is that Quizmania's "Producer Stu" Headlam is one of the producers. Shame we probably won't hear from him anymore. Sad

Where did you hear that? I'm interested in any QM coming back related news, however small the chance.

I did notice Debbie King's MySpace says "This is not to say that Quizmania will never come back, so please be assured that we will do our upmost to try and get the Big QM back on your screens at some point in the future. We really will try." so perhaps all is not lost.

Who knows.

"The UK's most entertaining quizshow, Quizmania, is taking a well-deserved break after 16 months of non-stop quizzing. Stay tuned for more fun and games from the QM team in the not-too-distant future. "

Well hopefully it will return (whether it be ITV1 again, channel 4 or five), the rest can dissapear for all I care but QM was different

Greggles just mentioned he went to see Flash's (sp) band the other night, never realised he had a band

I was still under the impression that it was Fremantle stopping them from coming back - I thought, if there was a chance of the format being given to another channel, they'd be a bit more positive about it.

But what do I know. Laughing

Wikipedia. Debbie King have her part in the creation and presenting of the programme she obviously believes in this show, I've seen a petition or two on the internet to bring it back but I'm not going to sign or create one because at the end of the day it's down to them and I respect Debbie King's decision and the other two's decision. As you've said "Who knows".

As for the other two, Chuck Thomas has no comment about the future of Quizmania on his MySpace and from looking at his companies it can be assumed that he's ceased working for Quizmania in Australia also and My Games Fever which is a quiz show in the States created by himself and Simone Thorogood.

I reckon The Glitter Ball will be hosted by Paul Hendy (he's not doing much at the moment is he?) And once again, its the same old circle.

I'm not going to read too much into that statement. Even if QM comes back there is a chance that it won't have the original cast.
