"When I was 6 I always watch Quizmania after school"? But it wasn't on until midnight! A six year old ought to be in bed long before then. Confused

I can't quite believe I'm about to enter into a logical discussion on this thread, but wasn't QM on earlier on ITV Play?

Was as early as 3pm at one point, I'm sure. Prior to that (or after it or whenever) it filled up the entire evening from 7:30m onwards. Easily plausible for a six year old to be watching, though quite what the appeal would be of QM to a six year old remains debatable, but it can only be the pretty blue and pink colour scheme, surely?

Still pisses me off they axed the ITV News Channel claiming they didn't have a Freeview slot for it then months later launched ITV Play. Quizmania though was leagues ahead of anything else under the ITV Play banner.

The beds may have pleased a six year old viewer too.

The Summer theme was amazing. I love the little bits that to my ear sound like the siren from Ecto 1, no just me? Really good custom made music for Quizmania, unlike the cheap library music used by everyone else.

Was all the Quizmania music custom made for it?

Well, I had assumed (presumed?) so, it had people singing "quizmania" in it and most of them were variations of the main theme? Wasn't one of the camera guys in a band, I'd assumed they'd had a hand in that. No idea why I think that though.

That was Flash. Who went through various stage of being on camera, not being allowed on camera, only allowed on camera when you couldn't see his face, not allowed on camera and then allowed on camera again.

The QM theme was custom made by Ala Kondre: http://www.alakondre.com/work/title-sequences

Why was it axed from ITV?

Many erroneously say it died with ITV Play, but it actually finished several months beforehand. I have a feeling it cost a lot more to produce than ITV's in house productions, or perhaps ITV didn't get as much of a cut from phone revenue. It was certainly the most popular show on the channel, and I remember it was huge when it was on ITV1 before ITV Play launched.

I presume because it was too expensive. It's replacements were both cheaper looking, less on screen staff, and we're all ITV in house productions.

Plus then the reputation of what was probably the best of the Quiz TV era was damaged by the "Rawlplugs in a ladies handbag" incident being used as the main reason why Quiz TV was a con.
