I think Through the Keyhole works with Keith because it's a piss take of the original format. I'm not sure if it work as well with anyone else.

That happened on Loose Women recently too. The perils of recording in a renowned BBC studio.

Of course it’s a vehicle for Keith, although the original premise still works.

The BBC version got very tired towards the end, you’d often have a random writer who isn’t exactly a household name if you aren’t well read as one of the celebs.

I always felt the panel had a list of names to choose from, considering how random some of the celebs were during the later years of the BBC version.

Through the Keyhole I believe used BBC Elstree Studio D.

I did suspect all that "I think this person is probably a writer," followed by spontaneous applause and "And did he/she do the <insert series title> of books?" followed by more applause was a bit too reactionary really to be genuine.

They were probably picking any old random stranger who did something slightly famous while at the same time not living in a tip of a house. Can't really imagine Loyd Grossman going round a four bedroom council house somehow just because they wrote a book.

Towards the end of the BBC version a little known actress was found to have borrowed a friend's £1million apartment rather than use her own place.

"Let's look at the evidence, who lives in a s**thole like this? David its over to you."

It’s a struggle booking celebs for the primetime ITV version so it’s no surprise they struggled to book for the daytime BBC2 version. I remember the daytime version being a real struggle to watch in its final few series. I think rather than celebs they started focusing on professions, I distinctly remember a really tedious panel debating over a Beefeater’s house. It really wasn’t entertaining.

University Challenge seems to be doing pretty well.

In fact as of this year it will have run for as long on the BBC as it did on ITV.
