On Quiz Call for that game the wording the presenter usually uses is...
"Count the pounds, every pound counts"
...which implies the answer is unlikely to be the value of the pound notes. Also if the callers had the common sense to write down past wrong answers they wouldn't keep repeating wrong answers, what a stupid way to waste a £1. OK so a person is unlikely to keep watching over many hours, but when their guess had been already said 5 minutes ago?!
I love the way people keep calling it a scam - i've entered for free on the website loads of times and i've won about £400 so far. And before anyone says anything, i've received the cheques, and they've all cleared.
I've seen many posts like this on several different forums, it seems a disproportianate number of winners are web entries. Is it because they know that web users are more likely to spread the word about how easy it is to win, as a form of viral marketing?

I suppose it's possible. If it is true - it's working!
Everytime I flick onto Quiz Call, theres always the presenter's ugly face panned right up close to the camera basically saying - we're ready to con you. Makes me sick!
Shall I start a petition?
Ban all cheap conning quiz shows from TV including ones with the presenter's ugly face panned up close to the camera basically saying I'm ready to con you?
Okay maybe the word 'scam' isn't quite right but how on earth some of these games go on for over half an hour without a call is not just the 'game' it has to be fixed. That game with the pounds ran for hours, amazingly when they told you what the answer was nobody got through for over 30mins with their apparant 'random' computer.
I copied one of these puzzles down last night to the letter and with it's answer. I'm going to sit and work it out - although quite frankly I could be here for weeks. The answer to it is similar the answer a similar puzzle had before which I think was the one I entered so it could be interesting to compare the two and possibly work out how they 'count the numbers'
Whilst I think it is shabby practice for these channels to operate on the edge of "fair-play" practices; the truth is a fool and his money are soon parted.
Any of you complaining that you have played and lost should probably consider how smart you were to dial the number in the first place.
Good point Gavin. I think most of us here are not silly enough to be sucked in by it.
It is just the moral issue of whether the quiz companies concerned should be allowed to make a lot of money in a dubious way!
I must point out that most, or a good many, or these channels do have free web entry. Quiz Mania, Quiz Call, to name a few. Simply fill out the form, wait for the call and you stand as much chance as anyone.
Flicked over last night to have a look at the current game on Quiz Call which was one of those recipe lists where you just "count the numbers".
They were running a "fast and furious" round and taking quiet a few calls. Poor sods ringing-in may as well have put their money straight into the dustbin as the "oh noooooo" response was coming up so quickly to each caller I caught one "oh nooooo" actually sounding-off before the caller had completed their answer!!! Further evidence that this is a complete con. Oh no we can't say that! Let's just say "a little immoral then" This is the sort of stuff my local MP likes to get her teeth into!

When they;ve had aother countding ames, they come out with rediculous things like "Think Numerical, Think Digital" etc.... which mean nothing to most people. Maybe "Think Digital" means they've used binary to get their incredibly odd answers.
I'm curious, does anyone know what these "count the numbers" questions are looking for? Is it the sum of all the numbers on the screen, how many numbers there are? It obviously isn't the answer to the questions when they say "Junctions on the M4, legs on 10 cats" etc. but something to do with the numbers themselves.
I can't be bothered to watch these channels for more than a couple of seconds to find out the answer... (it seems like every time I flick past they're still on the same question anyway!)

Of course we don't know the answer. That is the whole point of the complaints being made.
Stop watching the programme, or better yet - complain to your MP about this type of scam.
But please don't try to apply logic to the puzzles as you won't get anywhere.
