Tonight's Question time will be shorter than billed at 40 minutes.

Is This Week being extended or are they just shuffling the schedule forward?

This Week is now billed as 50 minutes long which is longer than usual I think.

It will be interesting to see how the ending of QT will be edited tonight given the incident. There's unlikely to be the usual audience applause or long sweeping shot so we could see a sudden end to the show.

They might be able to cobble something together from the opening?

So a recorded apology from David with a still shot and a clean theme with the credits.

A decent enough way to end in the circumstances.

Looks like they got David to do a quick piece to camera for the end after the audience had left. I guess they ran out of time to finish the programme in the usual way.

Unusual for BBC One to then run 20 minutes early, but I guess given that a) This Week was the last programme in the schedule, b) the audience for This Week is probably mostly inherited from Question Time and c) we now live in the age of iPlayer, it's not the issue it might have been in the past.

They manage to save some continuity between the shots, as David looked up from the desk to explain, when he was looking down in the previous shot. A happy accident - and an insignificant one.

Obviously not good circumstances... I hope the audience member is ok.
Interesting however to hear the theme clean of audience applause.

Shame they didn’t use a slow version of the theme to end like they do on the soaps.

Full video of how it ended here:

I may be wrong, but I don't think the closing theme was played out in stereo though, going by my audio meters in Premiere Pro.

Apologies for creating a thread for this, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put my video.

On Thursday (23/11/17) Question Time from Colchester had to curtail their programme because of an unfortunate sudden illness within the audience. The programme is pre-recorded on the night, but edited before transmission.

As a result, it was only 40 minutes long, rather than 60 minutes, and the following live programme (This Week) was brought forward.

This is the recording of the final moments of the programme as broadcast, which includes the credits over a static shot of the set, rather than the usual sweeping camera shots of the audience from behind the desk.
