I presume that's the left hand projector screen and thje image has been flipped as the writing is the right way round in a mirror.
Indeed.

When YTV took over the Belmont transmitter in 1974 from Anglia, they opened the very small studio 5 for opt out new bulletins to viewers in the Lincolnshire and Humberside area who received their pictures from Belmont. This continued through to 1990, when YTV opened their News centre. For some reason the new opt-out studio for YTV was very small and cramped too. I can remeber visiting the Newscentre not long after it had opened and going into the 'New Belmont' Studio. I also went into the Studio overlooking the newsroom used for Emley Moor Bulletins. The opt-outs for the Yorkshire South Region were originating from their 538 sqft studio at Sheffield. At the time the main programme was still originating from Studio 2 Leeds, it wasn't for a year or two they moved into the New centre with this part of the programme.
Studio 5 measured 9ft2 x 7ft6 (69 sqft) and was also for Yorkshire Television short Breakfast TV trial in the late 1970’s this service was presented by the ATV Midlands and later Central's West Midland's Bob Warman.
Oh BTW the 'five colour studios' come form Studio 1/1A which shared a single colour camera when the centre was opened. This was originally used for presentation

TC6 is quite large for that show.
Given the width of the set from the wide high techocrane shot I'd have said it was being made in the usual studios for chat/talk shows which would either be TC4 or TC8.

That's interesting... I always assumed the Sheffield news came from Leeds like the Humberside news did. Do they still use the Sheffield office for news broadcasts I wonder?

Yep - TCs 3,4,6 and 8 are all medium sized studios of around 8000 sq ft. (TC3 is more suited to music shows because of its sound facilities, TC6 has the gallery at studio floor level, not at first floor level - which was done for sit com production, TC8 is effectively in spur, and TC4 has the classic studio doors opening onto a decent lenght of road which is good for Blue Peter!)
TCs 2,5, and 7 are all smaller at around 3,500 sq ft. They were all on long term hire - though now
XChange has finished I suspect TC2 may no longer be leased to CBBC?
TC1 is the largest at well over 10,000 sq ft. (Ironically it has one of the less impressive galleries !)

Cheers Noggin,
Having stood on the studio floor of TC8, and looked down from the obs desk windows into TC6, I would have said that 6 was bigger than 8, but it appears to be a trick of the light and which way the studios have been built.
Am I right in thinking TC6 is longer and thinner, and TC8 is shorter but wider?
