A charity edition of A Question of Sport has been axed from the Red Nose Day TV lineup on BBC1 because of Jade Goody and the Big Brother controversy:

A fundraising show on which Jade Goody was one of the panellists has been axed from the Comic Relief line-up.

The charity version of A Question of Sport has reportedly been dropped from the night's programming due to the controversy surrounding the Big Brother contestant.

A spokeswoman for the Comic Relief show said that they didn't want anything to detract from the real cause behind the appeal.

She told the Mirror, "Recent events have overtaken us and the show, which was recorded last November, now feels out of date.

"Red Nose Day is all about raising money and anything that could potentially detract from this is not helpful."

who else was in it?

No sad loss - panel show specials are normally the weak link in these charity events, and as good as QS can be, it's not something that should be a highlight of Red Nose Day - Comic Relief is usually better than this!

Why on earth record a Red Nose Day Question of Sport special in November ?

Is there anything else we can blame Jade Goody for ? World Poverty ? Iraq ? Global Warming ?

See - compared to George Bush she's a bloody saint!

I wonder if they'd made the decision if they were due to film it now - as frankly most the nation doesn't care anymore!

Also, they can't be that keen on including a QS special as otherwise they'd just film a replacement considering they've got plenty of time.

They're replacing it with a 'Never Mind The Buzcocks' special. It was actually 'A Question Of Comedy' not Sport. Jack Dee hosted it with Frank Skinner and Dara O’Briain as team captains. it would have aired on BBC2 whilst the news was on BBC1.

Well know doubt Jade was there to deliberately play the "thick" role.

Actually the replacement is "Top Gear of the Pops" - which sounds much better.

As for the main show - the thing that stands out to me is Carol Vorderman and Jonny Ball playing Numberwang - plus the return of Mr Bean!

Also, a surprise treat from Peter Kay - which I suspect is his take on "500 miles", which I suspect like Amorillo will be released afterwards and completly overshadow the official official single.

This years Official single being utterly crap IMO anyway. I still have visions of Chris Evans in his pea coat dancing like a schoolboy to Its All About You.

Anyway, The Top Gear thing sounds a better replacement to the ever-tiring QoS.

Its great Rowan Atkinson's decided to bring back Mr Bean this time - convenient ahead of the new Mr Bean movie later this year. Smile
