True - but I think she’s been chosen for the right reasons rather than to tick a box as some suggest. She’s a naturally engaging presenter who will fit the show perfectly. I do worry she’ll get a slight “only picked because she’s a black woman” backlash from the usual quarters but she well and truly has it on merit.
That was quite a predictable outcome, she was at the top of everyone’s predictions from the minute Sue was axed

I really rate her as a pundit but haven't seen much of her as a presenter - is it only Goals on Sunday for Sky she does regularly?
Of course QoS is very different role anyway so hope she does well - I think it's quite a tough gig for a relatively novice presenter, but a decade ago had Sue left Jake Humphrey probably would have been in the frame and faced nowhere near the questions over that choice that Alex inevitably would just because she is a black woman.
I do hope that at least one of the captains is female too - would still tip Sam Quek, and maybe now Peter Crouch. It's about time the show had a regular female captain and I think it's needed after Matt and Phil.

The Daily Mail have announced that the the former England international Alex Scott is the new presenter:

I think Alex Scott is a good choice for the new presenter, obviously the BBC think highly of her and hopefully they will give her time to settle into the role. I think they will also go with a female captain and someone like Sam Quek would be a good fit. For the other captain I'd like the BBC to steer clear of rugby, cricket and football and go with a former athlete. Colin Jackson or Greg Rutherford might make a good team captain.

I agree that Alex Scott is an excellent choice as presenter as she has a sizable sporting background and also comes across well on a variety of media formats both sports and non-sports related. I'm not sure that Sam Quek would be a good fit as a captain, unless there is to be wider changes to the format in a way that reduces the reliance on questions relating to the sport they participated in and a wider acknowledgement of contributions off the field in which case both captains will need to have a media background covering multiple sports (or have otherwise gained an extremely strong knowledge of other sports), as overly regular hockey questions would put off much of the casual audience that knows nothing about the sport as well as create headaches for the question setters as there simply isn't the same volume of Hockey related questions to ask as there is for the sports the captains have historically been from .

And turn it into 'They Think it's All Over V2.0 ' ?
I predict they will use Peter Crouch as a team captain and change the show to a post watershed slot

If the BBC went down this route, there's a chance it could alienate the viewers who just want a nice cosy sports quiz. If they did want to do a post watershed version they could go down the 8 out 10 does countdown approach, bring in a couple of comedians each week, extend the programme to forty five minutes and go for the cutting edge adult humour. It could be called something like "A Question Of Extreme Sport."
