This is CBM all over again... why show the trailer then announce they're not launching today? What a waste of my time... all ready to capture stuff for TV Live as well.
I flipped it on after 10.00am to see it and I thought my TV had broke when that caption had appeared. Very strange considering that the channel was running a promo earlier this morning. We've come full circle, in January we had "Coming Soon", in March we had "May 14th" and on May 14th we have "Coming Soon", which is just plain odd considering it's just a Discovery channel full of reruns.
What stream are they using? The only time I've seen promos on it was this morning, so I assume although they've had the LCN, they haven't had the actual stream for long - but initially when they got it wasn't it Price-Drop TV's, which has been gone since January.
A very strange decision. Has the channel been promoted much in press ads etc., and on other Discovery channels?

Yep they're using the old Price Drop stream, but since January that has been split with NetPlay/JML and Super Casino, NetPlay/JML was running up until yesterday lunchtime and has been blank since then.
I haven't seen any promos for it, but the listings are in next week's Radio Times.
Clearly they could have done this a few days ago, why have a trailer and then abort?
If they can't even run the channel(They make it sound like they have no money to run the channel, And if they have no adverts then ITV has no adverts quite a few times(around when YBF is on) so its a lame excuse.) why hype it up?
Very strange indeed. You'd have thought even if there was a hint of 'commercial factors' meaning the launch might not be able to go ahead, they wouldn't have bothered adding a 'launches at 10am' DOG.
I can understand technical problems causing a launch to be postponed, but commercial reasons don't generally cause such an immediate, last-minute change of heart.
Perhaps they were having some rights issues with some of the programmes that they were hoping to iron out at the last minute? You really wouldn't expect a shambles coming from an established global broadcaster like Discovery.
It wouldn't be wise to panic your existing, committed advertisers by puling the "launches..." placeholder with weeks or even days to go. You'd expect the sales team were plugging away to the last possible minute to see if they could fill sufficient advertising slots to sustain the service.
Obviously a last minute decision to cancel doesn't look good either - but if they were fudging the launch date they wouldn't stand a chance of bringing on board new money.
