Yes obviously they wanted somebody who was familiar to both News24 and BBC One viewers. Who normally does News24 in this slot ?

Usually Maxine, but Mike Embley was on from 9-11. Interestingly the EPG still shows Europe Direct at 11.30, but I guess that's been dropped.

Not sure, I'm sure she'll go in after a while. Perhaps Matthew will go home then. Nice bit of overtime I'm sure.

BBC One joined BBC News 24 with the News24 sting and then an introduction from Matthew Amroliwala
Obviously, if you were watching BBC News24 this would have seemed unusual
I think it was a late decision, as on Thursday, Michael Buerk said, live coverage would be on BBC News 24, but then on Friday, he said, live coverage on BBC News 24 and you can also see some of it here on BBC One

I guess they realised that most of the target audience, being elderly, can't get News24, so to avoid recriminations from the Daily Mail, they quickly schedlued the coverage on BBC1.
Don't know where those of us who want a News Summary go though.

I thought it was strange not having the 'LIVE' bit.
News 24 has this on all their OB's. Someone must've forgotten to put it on.

I thought the aston for 'What's happening' might not be there because it was a simulcast with BBC One, but that doesn't explain them not using the 'LIVE' bit.
BBC One News always does with a OB.
Oh, well, let's put it doen to a mistake - unless someone from News 24 tells us what really happened.

I know they are not allowed to use the LIVE bug when they eventually report her death. No Breaking News either. Perhaps they read the wrong set on notes
