Mr Pedantic here!

Err - very much doubt it is glass, far more likely to be perspex or a similar plastic - which scratches quite easily!

There are very strict rules for the use of glass in TV studios - as it is pretty dangerous stuff - you are only allowed to use it if there is no safer substitute available.

Can you you imagine if a glass desktop shattered on-air?!

Funny you should say that, I once had a dream about Daljit Dhalwahl presenting on the ITN News Channel when the desk collapsed and smashed all over the floor. Is the ITN desk not glass then?

I remember when BBC were going virtual in the 90's & the Board of Governors came around to see it in action. They nearly died of heart attacks with all the 'glass' that was in the studio, until it was pointed out that it didn't exist except inside a computer

Just read this: From Digital Spy.

ITN News Channel to close

The ITN News Channel is to close in the New Year, according to a report in the Sunday Times.

Insiders tell the 'paper that poor audience figures matched against high production costs are to blame for the closure. The news comes just days after the company announced 133 job losses over the next month.

United Business Media and Daily Mail & General Trust, two of ITN's five shareholders, are said to have been pushing for the news channel closure for several months now

Don't know if it's official but if it is, it's a shame. I rather like it for just giving us the news plainly.

Has anyone got any other behind the desk shots they'd like to show us?

What's underneath Peter Levy's desk? A sleeping bag?

Well it's certainly not a personality! Lol!

Sorry, it's just I can't abide his voice as he reads the news.
