As you will know, the Queen has been doing a rather pointless but amusing tour of Eastenders, Blue Peter etc.

However just found this on News Online:

'The royal couple dropped in unannounced on the ITN 24-hour news channel - but presenter Rachel McTavish managed to maintain her composure despite their presence behind the cameras. '

Of the three, it had to be the ITN News channel didn't it?

I'm sure no-one was watching at the time but if a video exists I'd love to see it..

Apparently, MediaGuardian say Sky also put up a 'news alert' aston when she arrived on the Eastenders set as well.

She toured all the facilities. There was a clip of her in the ITV News studio on the ITV News...

It's the same in the BBC national news studio too; that's probably why Michael Buerk 'crawls' over the desk so much to avoid it.

I had to stop myself from kicking the monitor (about knee height) , just under the glass surface.

'Pointless'? What's pointless about that?

I agree!
How many of you want tours around TV studios? Most I would imagine - so why have a knock at Queeny because she wants to?

Well yes there was a bit of jealously in there actually...

But by pointless I mean the fact that this sort of hugely publicised 'getting to know the public' day always slightly backfires, as indeed it did with the Prince Philip comments about Adam Woodyatt, etc.

I found it slightly odd that they went to BBC ( TVC + Elstree), ITN and even CNN, but not Sky.

Oh and what is under the News 24 desk? (as I think its a fairly safe assumption I'll never get to see it in real life as I am not the queen)

She should've gone to Sky. It's a hell of a lot more important on an international stage than ITN.

Here's the back of the Sky News desk, for anyone interested...

Is it me, but aren't there a lot of scratches on the glass surface of the News 24 desk!
