Well, My GCSE Media course starts in a few weeks, and i'm really looking foward to a new challenge. But has anybody here got any media qualifications? I understand 'Qualifications' is a very general term but pretty much anything from GCSE upwards.
I'm "getting" a degree in TV Production, not that is overly useful in the industry, just gives me time to use their kit and build a showreel whatnot. After that I'll try a local independent prod company and if that fails I'll top it to an MA for the hell of it.
Didn't know you could do GCSE Media, I did A-Level Media Studies, it was alright to do but unless you're pretty hardcore about getting a job in TV, Radio or the press, it's not really worth taking. Although on the A2 exam I got a 90 out of 90 for comparing two programme clips.
Media studies should be replaced in schools with something useful like plumbing or carpentry!
Indeed.
Show me somebody with a media qualification from school and I'll show you somebody with nearly enough intelligence to do plumbing or carpentry instead.
