I don't think there's a convenient word like "puppet", but they don't fall under that definition (puppets are "live"). Stop motion models, or somesuch.

Given the amount of time and patience it takes, I wouldn't personally get much enjoyment out of the process, but it must be nice to see the end result of your labours.

David (who probably knows more about puppets than is healthy for a grown-up)

"Stop-motion models" are still puppets - ask Aardman.

Good fun but let's not kid ourselves they're outakes.
It's another crafty way of getting the product on screen.

They're not out-takes in the strictest sense but, realism aside, stuff such as PC McGarry crashing his motorbike into a hedge after being distracted by a pretty woman would have been unheard of in the the original series, while the second clip, where PC McGarry (again on his bike) fails to stop and takes out Windy Miller's breakfast table before crashing into a chicken coop, with a lone motorbike wheel rolling back into shot, is the kind of thing you see on Alright on the Night in the adult world. You just couldn't imagine that happening in an animated series.

Well whether real or not (and with animation, the tend to be fake) they are out takes, or rather oat takes in this case.

there were 'outakes' at the end of bugs life, they also did the same thing in lizzie mcguire with the 'cartoon lizzie' outakes along with the live cast

my real player wasn't working on those windy miller videos so i couldn't watch them
