I purchased QI Series B on DVD yesterday. One thing that struck me as odd was the box-- it had a complete lack of any kind of BBC branding. Not a logo to be seen. I put the DVD on and there was no BBC Video logo on it at all. It is certainly unlike the Beeb to be subtle about who created their programmes...

Anyone know why this is?
the website is also independant and owned by QI productions.
DVD rights must have been reserved by them.
Clever, really - but you wouldn't expect less from Mr Fry, would you?

Could well be that the contracts for Series A and Series B were different.
Some independent productions retain more new-media and sell-through rights than others - and some independently release through BBC Worldwide/2 entertain whilst others don't AIUI.
ISTR that John Lloyd owns most of the rights to the show?
I believe that the BBC were reluctant to release QI on DVD at all - only releasing the first series due to a fan petition - as they believed otherwise it wouldn't have been a big seller. I guess they must have been right since Series B never followed on any time soon and as such the BBC must have passed on the opportunity to release any more, which is understandable, but I'm glad someone else is willing to release them.
In fact plenty of BBC shows aren't released by BBC Worldwide - Keeping Up Appearances for example. It just depends on who is most willing to publish them.

Gosh that's surprising. Its the best panel game since HIGNFY. I can (and do) watch it again and again.
I love the fact that they're only up to letter E. So much still to come!

I agree. One of the few panel shows where intelligence is appreciated.
I just hope Fry stays alive until the Z series. It simply will not be the same without him.

I somehow get the feeling it will just tail off mid way through the alphabet. I'd be surprised if we make it as far as O let alone Z.
You'll like series F. I've been to 2 of the recordings, the latter being the funniest one I've seen, although I have only been to 6 in total. But a lot of new panellists this time.

I agree it's excellent, full of insightful knowledge & it's always great to bamboozle people at work who don't believe a word of what your saying, until you mention Stephen Fry of course

oh interesting! that'd be good. It can be repetitive constantly having Jo Brand and Phil Jupitus on every show.
