Your telling me, well that Channel TV's idea for a cartoon. LOL! Laughing

By the way, No one entered the competition for the Garfield Cinema tickets.

Indeed, nobody on the Channel Islands can be bothered to draw the comic strip for the competition!.

Today's show was a stupendous 13 minutes long, the longest ever according to Kevin.

Before Kevin came along what did Puffin's Pla(i)ce used to like? anyone know?

I can always remember the continuity announcers at Channel at the time doing Puffin in a TINY room. I'm thinking it was the same room the continuity was done in.

Oscar would either give you a wink, a shake of his tail, and to begin with only a magic cage. Later on they put in magic circles and kisses and stuff, but i always remember thinking even when i was like 4, wtf is the cage all about!?

And for as long as i can remember, there used to be loads of cards, they'd never waste time talking sh*te like Kevin does cuz there wasn't any time because there was so many cards. Some days there wasn't any cards and so they'd just say "we haven't any cards, bye bye"

It was so much more plain in the older days, more of a quick thing before the next show started. But now I think Puffin deserves his own show on the network!

Sorry i have to...and not for the first time mr stabby...pick at your comments...FIRSTLY...Puffins Pla(i)ce has grown and moved with the times..and the only person in recent years to realize this is the shows producer/presenter Kevin Pamplin...now i dont know the guy but i do know the many years b4 him since im guessing im many years older than you...why do you think that no other itv region apart from westcountry i think have a birthday slot?..im sure for a couple of reasons but im very sure because not many people these days send birthday cards to be read out..it is very dated....sure i know due to my kids..that they watch cbbc and disney channel, they do a birthday card slot but its only for 3 mins and short and sweet..and if a child wanted to have their birthday card read out on tv they would like to be on a channel devoted to children..ie just before tellytubbies or the home of mickey mouse...if the mascot for a local itv channel is not strong or just whacked out at 3pm (when most children are at school)..then it just comes down to parents who just want that special moment for them selves to be kept on tape..in this day and age and i can say this being a father of 2... parents have very busy lives now...mummy and daddy have to work and be with their family..it is them who send cards in (or elder relatives) not the children themselves...

TV has changed.... how many homes who have children have sky tv..and most children when they are not outside playing also know what they want to watch..now a birthday card show which only is for the kids who have birthdays that day is not going to intrest children...if you want to do a show for children and value them watching you have to move with the times....all of these things im sure is why cards are down...now im sure cause i have watched puffin's show for the last 2 years they have been steady...but once the 5pm tea time slot went..then people stopped sending cards..oscar puffins birthday card show was at 5pm and they used to have a few mins to read cards out for that day..thats what i remember im sure they did a tiny slot after citv as well..now it looks as like puffin's show is part of citv in fact citv is part of oscars show in a way...but if you give a birthday card filler slot a proper slot and studio and show..then you have to make it watchable and not just a birthday card show...oscar puffin was never thought of as a 13 minute childrens fun show i bet!!!

The way i see it is that..this guy has sussed this out...they seem to have a tiny studio that has out grown its show..it seems to have no real production team or time put into it..you have a 3pm time slot and you have to make it fun and watchable..and try to get children and familys to watch if its not your birthday or not...the star of the show can not talk or in fact do anything apart from winks or flap his wing...not much to work with..so what do you do?? get a simple hand puppet that squeaks...with a little fun..ala harry the hedgehog..just like gordan the gopher...bring in the team around you..and you have a larger than life broom cuboard...

But what really spearates this from what philip schofield did is that kevin has taken a fomula that is dated and made it damm watchable and fun for all ages..made people take note and watch (for instance tv forum's lovefest)...since i have been watching i think about..the fab half an hour xmas show...the snowchildren (a great show for children) the comps with great prizes..backstage pop concerts interviews with top chart acts...a great gag with harry the hedgehog interviewing mike myers...and the very funny presenter who makes it fun..he includes you in the joke with out takeing the phiss...he is not patronizing..if he was my kids would turn him off...his style is presenting with out preaching..when you say he talks sh*t..i think thats the joke he talks about stuff that might be of interest to children of all ages and with us all at home makes us see the funny side..but if its serious he is serious..like todays show he mentions the new cartoon the compertition and does jokes with the puppets to make them see more real to the children who are young enough to belive they are...

well to sum up..sorry late night rant here..but i think this show is more than a birthday card show..its moved up with the times and i feel the reaction to the show speaks for its selve..

..also andrew....some one from mcfly?? call me old..but i had no idea who they were till my daughter showed me tonight...um i dont see it my self...i ment more his presenting style..dont think he is like philip schofield the show is a bit like that thing he did..but i think he reminds me of some american presenter's and a mix of jonny vaugn (sorry dont know how u would spell it)..sorry rant over...

i lied....The spud show..i think looks great...i mean think about it some animation people want to put a cartoon on this show...its not cheap to make cartoons..so they must value puffins pla(i)ce...again just proves that oscars show has grown and has more going for it than many other shows,,yet again im sure kevin is the reason...they will be big shoes to replace...

Kevin also said that its Battle of Flowers week next week and usually he's not on that week because he's busy behind the scenes making high quality 30 minute programmes about it, but he's not doing that this year. Has he been sidelined by Channel again?!

Oh god, here we go again, ANOTHER Battle of Flowers. They show the SAME stuff EVERY year! It's beyond depressing, and i've only lived for 19 battle of flowers. I feel sorry for my parents who have lived for 50!
