They showed some of the old title sequences at the beginning.. and footage of some of the previous presenters!

Yeah all the way back to black & white.
I think Kevin was right that he did come along and save Oscar really, by the looks of those old presenters.

A nice show, I still can't work out how Oscar was blowing the party blower though!

Shame i didn't see that.

It's weird, there's loads of content on the old interweb about other ITV stations and their pasts, but i can't seem to find anything on Channel pre-1989, and even then it's just the odd title sequence from Channel Report. Never anything else. Apart from the 1960s hexagon ident, but that's everywhere.

Yes I've just watched it, what a good show with those classic clips.

Best bit had to be when he mentioned tvforum.co.uk and said that he was told about this site a few months ago

And how Oscar was blowing his blowy thing, I assume a tube of air was attached to it passing through his body!

Just watched the show at home! My wife tapes it cause the little ones sometimes fall asleep...was brill!

Best bits - Opening With all the different Starts with the old music
- Clips of old oscar with even older presenters
- Oscar Blowing his streamer all show
- Kevin "Name me another Presenter who has been on tv for so long and loved by millions!
Harry "Squeak Squeak"
Kevin Patrick Muirhead? dont be silly! Ha ha ha ha

I am sure those clips were used for Oscars 40th Birthday show but kevin with some classic lines today made it He has been really good in recent weeks talking about things local and from around the world

Citv and ITV should be ashamed of them selves look at the state of citv its awful no heart and soul and they have this great well liked and recieved show aimed at all ages!! what else does ITV have that brings people to watch something familar and trusted and been on air for over 40 years?

I think as a birthday present to Oscar we all here on tv forum should write a long letter to citv and a petition explaing why Oscar Harry and Kevin should present Citv....well?? what say you??

Mr_Riley: I don't suppose you could find a way of capturing the episode, as i would like to see it.

Would be nice if someone could capture the episode for us and send it to a site like TV Ark, or if they don't have capturing facilities, send the video to them... but I don't know whether they'd want to capture all of it with it being nearly 10 minutes long... it might take up quite a bit of space - but there's no harm in trying... I know I for one would like to see it again - don't know why I didn't think to record it!

If someone sent me the tape, i'd happily capture the whole 10 minutes and post it up for all to see.

Can't you just stroll round the corner to Mr Riley's and borrow his tape?

After all, everywhere's "just round the corner" on the islands, isn't it?
