Apparently quite a few US stations use the same music packages for their news as some ITV regional news operations did until the ITV News branding was rolled out.
The 70s sitcoms "To the Manor Born" and "Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister" used the same theme, which was rather odd as I am sure they were made around the same time.

That's weird, I really don't remember that.
Coincidentally, both were vehicles for Margo and Jerry from the Good Life, so having the same theme seems odd.
Gavin. a little bit of research has led me to discover that both were written by Ronnie Hazlehurst, although apparently my memory is not so correct in that
TTMB
was in 1979, whilst
YM/YPM
was in 1986. Maybe they hoped at the time no one would notice that they were the same theme tune.

Yes, Minister was 1980 - 1984. With Yes, Prime Minister from 1986 - 1988.
A quick listen to both the themes confirms what I thought; The Yes, Minister theme wasn't 100% identical, it featured the notes of the Big Ben chimes. Both themes were clearly based around the same track though.

Just browsing TV Ark, and wondering if anyone can tell me where else I might have heard the Reporting Scotland theme from c.1979 (the first clip on this page).
I've definitely heard the music somewhere else, but can't place it at the moment.
