As everybody knows Paul O'Grady is just about to start his new show on Channel 4 which will be almost identical to his old ITV1 series.

This is quite a rare event on UK television. We've seen stars defect from one channel to another, but not very often do they take the show with them and make an exact copy.

Can anyone think of all examples of when this has happened?

Recently two more examples have been Trisha and Parkinson.

Imports arn't allowed, because they can move just by who happens to buy the rights, no effort bar some money is required by the UK broadcaster

Men Behaving Badly (ITV to BBC) though it did lose Harry Enfield to be replaced by Neil Morrisey

Another one is Blockbusters (Bob being replaced by Michael Aspel), This is your Life also moved from ITV to the BBC.

Through the Keyhole ?

It lost something when it changed to that garish set and went daytime on the BBC, also the home owners became increasingly obscure and I usually don't recognise who they are.

the Frank Skinner show. Left BBC1 to join ITV with an identical set, music etc/

Originally This Is Your Life was on the BBC, but when Éammon Andrews joined ITV during the 1960's, then he took the programme with him.

I can't think of many that come to mind....

What The Papers Say.....ITV to Channel 4 to BBC2
University Challenge....ITV to BBC2
Blankety Blank.....BBC1 to ITV, both versions with Paul O'Grady/Lilly Savage
Home And Away....ITV to Five
Blockbusters....ITV to Sky One to BBC2 to Sky One
The Price Is Right, ITV (1984-1988) to Sky One (1989) to ITV (1996-2001)
Morcambe and Wise....BBC1 to ITV, though they had worked with both previoulsy before they jumped ship in the 1970's

I thought Series 3 (New theme tune and title sequence) was the first on the BBC. Series 2 certainly has ad break stings.

Blockbusters and The Price is Right. I'd say they don't count. They were more the route of: Show axed > cheap remake > series brought back years later.

Blankety Blank's an interesting one. Paul O'Grady's obviously a serial defector. The only star to feature twice?!

Although as well as the Frank Skinner show, the same happened with Fantasy Football so he's moved 2 shows from one channel to another as well

Paul didn't fall out with the Beeb. They decided to scrap Blankety Blank as it became too tacky (ironically my uncle directed it Embarassed ). ITV soon got their claws into it when Paul decided he didn't want to be Lily anymore.

Although going back a bit. Programmes like Happy Days and Sesame Street had a home on ITV before switching over to CH4.

Yes but Home and Away moving from ITV to FIVE was quite a big deal as not only did ITV lose one of their most popular daytime programmes (and it took them years to find something as popular for the 5pm slot) but they stopped FIVE from screening the show for over a year due to some clause in their contract.
