Same programme appearing on two channels on the same day

but not simulcasts and things like that. (February 2013)

Heres a thing, Sky One showed Maggie Simpson in The Longest Daycare at 19:30, a five minute short that was also on Channel 4 at 13:30 today. I expect the Sky showing may also be on Sky 3D as it was clearly made to be shown in that way. I wonder how this situation came about? Maybe it quite cheap to buy (being only 5 minutes long) and both channels purchased non-exclusive rights which came in to effect today.

It's not completely unique for a programme to be on two channels on the same day, but still quite unusual.

I remember the same episode of Dinnerladies being shown on UK Gold (as was) and BBC Two on the same day. The BBC Two showing was a last minute schedule change though. I'm sure there have been times when BBC Three and FX (as was) or Fox have shown the same episode of Family Guy or American Dad! on the same day too.

Let's all have some fun thinking of other examples. Go.

I'm sure some children's programmes will have aired on two channels on one days. CITV and C5 in particular share rights to quite a few shows with others

What!?! I wasn't aware that Channel 4 were airing it too - and BEFORE Sky? How the heck did they pull that off? 4 are usually four years behind. And it aired here before in the US too, as they're due to air it at 8PM EST, which is still a few hours away.

A b it like Family Guy and American Dad having same episodes on both BBC3 and FOX on the same evening, and it happens quite often.

Well obviously it's a one off short film, and isn't connected to the actual series. The contract the broadcasters have may give them first choice for things like this.

Even so, I would've expected it to air on Fox in the US first, then Sky 1, then Channel 4. Not the reverse.

According to Wikipedia, it was on Sky One this morning too, so they did show it before Channel 4. You must be pleased? Unfortunately for you, the same source also says that it was shown in Australia before it was shown on Fox in the US. Sorry about that.

Didn't an X Files episode get shown at the same time on BBC Two & Sky One, or am I thinking of consecutive episodes (End/Begining of a season!)?

Cheers is currently running on ITV4 and CBS, so it's could be probable that an episode be be broadcast on both channels in the same day.

Scrubs is Comedy Central's filler material between new seasons of their programmes, and is also shown on E4, sometimes at the same time, although E4 don't have the rights to the utterly rubbish final season and I don't blame them!

I do believe Sky One have even shown an episode of the Simpsons before FOX. I think it was the one when they went to Ireland.

You are correct, that was back in 2009, probably on St Particks Day too from what I remember.
