If Channel Television ( by far the smallest ITV company) can afford its own continuity announcers, why can`t YTV, Granada etc etc, all part of the massive Granada Media group? The current system in place in Leeds for YTV Granada, Tyne Tees and Border does not work. Does anyone else think something should be done here for these regions to improve their regional presentation / continuity. I know they have started to use more regional continuity during the evening prime time, but that depends on the announcer and to be honest theirs too many mistakes

GMG find it cheaper, if nothing else, not to have an announcer for each region! As far as I can tell, their system doesn't actually work too badly; it's just the incapable in-house design teams and the general style of presentation on ITV that let the programmes themselves down!

I've got an idea. Perhaps if they got rid of a few layers of their top-heavy management at Granada, they'd be able to afford separate announcers.
Most of Channel ITV's continuity is provided by Meridian TV as Channel ITV's network feed is supplied by Meridian with Channel ITV placed on the top of Meridian idents, sometimes !!. Yes sometimes we get the Meridian hearts ident and some nights we even get Meridian Tonight instead of Channel Report.
Our continuity people also get the job of reading the late Channel News, I am sure it's recorded though as Channel switch off at around 12.30 and handover to Meridian.
I agree!
I've said it before and I`ll say it again.
Granada North West is the forgotten franchise. Terrible presentation, totally unimaginative and very very dull.
The Granada Tonight theme is very odd, and doesnt fit in with the style of the station.
The weather is read from behind an on-screen graphic, unlike Yorkshire who have an in-vision presenter.
The name `Granada` is hardly ever used on-air anymore.
It doesnt even have its own local logo (you know like the ones Yorkshire and Tyne Tees use)
Granada in Manchester may have helped GMG become the power it has, and built its reputation, but the original franchise is in dire need of an overhaul, from its current Skeleton like state!
Save Granada now!
