New presentation device coming to a screen near you soon. The big scary 'P' will be seen at the beginning and end of programmes that feature product placement and after any advertising breaks during those programmes.

because many groups believe baby milk/formula/whatever promotion discourages breastfeeding.

I've always found cars an interesting one for product placement because even without any references to it you can see that Gene Hunt drove an Audi Quatro or Mike Bawldwin drove a Jaguar for many years

That's true, however it's nearly impossible to have realistic and believable characters in a television programme if they don't drive, particularly in, to cite your examples, a long--running soap or a police drama.

I suppose there'll be a race to get the first PP'd programme on air. Has anyone any concrete news as to any specific PP contracts already placed?

Is this P going to be within an ident or something? The way the reports say how it must be shown for three seconds makes me wonder what, if anything, it'll be within... unless it's just a giant P on screen for three seconds.
