I don't have a problem with product placement myself, just makes the programmes seem more realistic than every character using generic stuff.

Although if you look carefully you can sometimes work out (by looking at the exposed labels of the items in question) which product is being used in the context of the scene in question. So it isn't really anything new.

As for ad breaks - I'd like to see the breaks come back down to only every twenty minutes in exchange for lighter regulation on product placement. Well either that or on a sliding scale per programme - more extreme placement, less presence of ads in said programme. Be interesting to see which way the cookie crumbles on that one.

I wouldn't be too bothered by limited product placement in TV shows, the comment about the likes of Bond Films being littered with them is very true.

Only yesterday I rushed out and bought a number of Space Shuttles and some cannisters containig a nerve gas that's only fatal to humans. Had they not appeared in the film, world domination would never had occurred to me. Check my Ebay listing for a second hand Rolex with a laser/satNav sytem - keeps good time and inflates into a three man life raft.

I think you should sit in a dark room and think about what you've done

There is obviously some product placement already allowed - for example on the Game Show marathon tonight we had something from tesco.com - and most phone in comps say who the prize is from.

BUMP ... well remember Graham Norton always gave a prize away to the audience member with the least self-respect from "our good friends at travelocity.co.uk/expedia.com/somedotcomcompany.com", whilst holding an envelope with the company's logo. Not sure what the legitimacy over this is...

This post was sponsored by our good friends at Carling. Mmm, that's a good pint.
