Are there problems with Channel 4 tonight?
At a break in Gordon Ramsey's Cookalong live the advert had no breakbumper, and was stuck with a still of Ant McPartlin in a Christmas jumper, presumebly for a Christmas advert, and then jumped to the middle of an advert.

Everything seems to be freezing, no promos are playing and everythings holding on black for a couple of seconds, and into Alan Carr the ident came in sharply from black, with no music, and Marcus Bentley quite loud with the click of a button being pressed. The ident also cut off well before the 4 form up, it's reminding me of the day that they had to leave Horseferry Road because of problems a couple of years ago.

Haven't been watching Channel 4, but I've noticed a problem with ITV1 (analogue) all day today. The picture keeps going blocky whenever people move on the screen, similar to blockiness you often get on Freeview, but worse. It was particularly noticeable throughout this evening's Coronation Street. Anyone else noticed this?

It's possible the transmitter you are watching from has lost its feed and gone to the DSat backup, in which case there will be noticeable blockiness to the picture given the rather low bitrates used on DSat, especially of late.

I was experiencing this on Channel 4 HD. I was stuck with the image of Ant, but I checked on Channel 4 and it was running fine, so I was assuming only C4HD was being effected.

I don't have HD myself, but it was the same on normal sky+, though I didn't check anything else such as freeview.

On the subject of Ant, the ad eventually played, but did anyone work out what the ad was for? Confused

Seemed to be problems throughout Cookalong Live, with them cutting into VTs before Gordon had the chance to introduce them.

And going off on a tangent, but have Ant and Dec sold their soles to the advertisers then - I can't really recall them featuring in any ad campaigns in the past.

Most people are speculating that it's a supermarket ad - but it's not usually their style. M&S maybe?

EDIT: It's for Sainsbury's

Thank Orry. I think that must have been what happened.

Does anyone know who to contact to find out if a transmitter is having problems? The analogue picture quality on all five channels has been getting worse and worse recently and since yesterday afternoon I've been having to watch the TV through a fuzzy haze of snow. It's getting ridiculous.

Even the Freeview reception failed yesterday at the same time this started happening. Once the box managed to pick up a signal again the picture was dire - it keeps juddering all over the place and won't stop no matter how much I fiddle about with the connections and settings, and it's not the aerial so it must be the transmitter.
