problem is the news 24 great red walls look crap on uk today as they loop about every minute and are boring to see. i agree the news centre backdrop would look boring as well cause its all ready boring on the national news. they should move the camera around the news centre every couple of weeks to make a refreshing change.

What about the 10:25 update? Peter Sissons/Michael Buerk is there and seconds later, Martine Croxall is in N6? And then, at 1032, seconds later, everything has been replaced again?

Yeah, but in fairness David, this is the BBC News, not Changing Rooms Smile

UK Today is a blue screen but is at the back on the left-hand-side as the national news presenter would see it. You can see the desk in the 'BBC News Behind the Scenes' feature clip.

Cheers,

I *think* that UK Today at 1025 is recorded although basically all they'd have to do would be to rotate a camera 90 degrees or better still, have a fixed one for UK Today

the thing i dont get is a few months ago uk today was unavailable due to technical problems after the nine o'clock news. there was no problem with the nine o'clock news though?????? they showed a special video about uk today instead and it was great cause you saw the bbc news centre inside out, back to front, upside down.

The tape broke down?

Yes, I think UK Today after the ten o'clock is pre-recorded. That's because after the Six has finished at 6.30, the gallery has to change really quickly to accommodate the UK Today team. It's also why the BBC English Regions and digital have a trailer between the end of the Six and the Regions unlike Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. After the Ten, no-one leaves the gallery and it just plays in after the ten - I could see it being played by the vision mixer.

I'm not sure, but I think the UK Today team also produce the short bulletins - I may be wrong though! I know the BBC 6.55 update is produced by the bulletin team and I can't see that they have time to switch teams after UK Today finishes!

Don't the BBC want us to think that the background is the actual newsroom behind it, through a window and not a screen ? How far away in relation to the studio is the actual newsroom ?

It's actually just outside the main newsroom area. The shot you see is virtually where the studio is - but obviously the shot is higher as the cameras are high and the studio is on the same level.

As Asa has said UKToday does come from N6.
The one in the 10 o'clock is recorded slightly before they go on air for technical reasons.
The team that produce the bulletins are part of News 24.
And of course the UKToday Breakfast bulletins come from the News 24 and are live.

Is UK Today available for people across Britain?, and if so, how do I receive it?
