Hi all, the last primeval thread was archived so I've decided to create a new one. What will you buy doing - watching the premiere of series 5 on Watch? or waiting for it to air on ITV in HD?
The new series is airing on Watch before ITV? Why?
At the end of S3 ITV axed the show, there was a lot of complaints, about this,
( remember back in 2008 ITV was pissing out money, and were cutting cost everywhere and show, heartbeat went the same way)
In the deal it get two more series, ITV got into bed with watch which helped pay for new epsoides.
IN deal S4 went out in January this year, with S5 going out in may on watch with S5 going on to ITV next January?

ITV cancelled the show as it was too expensive to produce. They entered a deal with BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC who owns UKTV (the network of channels that Watch is part of), to produce the show. They allowed BBC Worldwide to show it first on one of their commercial channels before showing it on ITV later in the year.
The problem is that Watch isn't available in HD so some people will be waiting until later in the year (like me) to see the HD showing on ITV.
ITV viewers do not have to wait until 2012. A continuity announcer said over the end credits of the last new episode that it would return later in the year. Expect it in the Autumn. I just hope there isn't a schedule clash with Doctor Who!
