Don't know anything about this really, but tonight ITV1 have begun airing trailer for "Priveval - 2007".

sounds good

Seems to be a new strategy from ITV, teasing us in advance with upcoming shows - they did it with Prime Suspect back in July/August.
Looks good - but - 'six-part series'? ITV really need to start commissioning longer running shows.

£6m science fiction show? Sounds good, proabably a Doctor Who-esque show, but kudos to ITV for dipping into a different genre.
I was very surprised to see it being trailed already (at least 3 months in advance) but from the clips it looked promising.

I think it the Toe dipping in the water type thing,

The BBC have done more than their fair share of 6 part series. Blackadder, Red Dwarf and Bottom are just a few examples. And they were as cheap as chips to make most of them

That may be so, but I think dramas work better as long series, rather than comedies. Just a point, but I suppose the other poster is right - it is a first series so they probably wouldn't want to be ordering 13 episodes for a show that could potentially flop.

Well done ITV.
There was another story about an ITV series following new army recruits through training and into the battlefield in Afghanistan/Iraq. Sounded potentially interesting from the press release.
Could they finally be understanding the point that
a) ratings aren't everything if you're trying to rebuild a brand.
b) not everything in primetime has to be a soap or the potential to become one.
c) you can appeal to social demographics other than the lowest.

Who knows? Maybe it's a turning point for ITV. I do think we'll be seeing more quality programming next year. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.
