Prime Suspect - End Credits

Not ECP friendly - Hooray (November 2003)

Watching the end of Prime Suspect and suddenly realised that the end credits weren't in "house style".

They used a close up of an eye which was used for the break captions too - the credits were centered as per norm but the teaser for next weeks episode was segmented and intercut with the credits, rather than a 20 sec stand alone piece which would've made it difficult to use ECP or even V/O at the end.

Is this usual for ITV1 drama ? If so I just haven't noticed. Looked good anyway.

It is probably one of ITV's drama archives, made before the new look came in...

No, it was definately based on the generic credits. It was just a different font and background. They were also intersperced with previews of the concluding episode, thus making it ECP-unfriendly.

It wasn't, and it wouldn't matter if it was - all ITV programmes except those shown on ITV2, CITV and overnight must carry generic credits.

It is however possible to apply for deviation from the rules (even using a different backdrop from the usual coloured backgrounds is considered a deviation), which presumably was granted in this case. Very odd though to allow deviation to the point when they can't readily be ECP'd. A step in the right direction though. Perhaps at some point they'll stop having permanent house styles, and just go for an overlay type ECP as C4 and BBC1 have.

If that's so, how come "Harry Hill's TV Burp" and "The Frank Skinner Show" aren't using generic end credits lately?

Most probably an exception for them. They can't actually use the ECP on them, because they always have something going on over the credits.
