Price-drop is broadcasting EPG data for the first time ever on freeview. Seems they can't even broadcast an apology caption like bid-up. They're instead using the EPG to apologise.
Interesting that BU and PD seem to be broadcasting different things on different platforms - I checked both of them earlier - on Sky both were showing a white on black apology caption, and on Freeview I think PD was broadcasting the apology caption or a green screen, whereas Bidup had a rather stretched "more auctions coming soon" caption!
Screenshop on Sky appears to be broadcasting the same apology caption, btw - are BU,PD and Screenshop all from the same building then?
On Freeview, BU had the white on black caption until only recently when it changed to the nicer graphic they're now showing. PD has just had a green screen. Nothing else.
Bid-up is showing a caption, whilst Prive-drop has switched to showing screenshop.
This most be disasterous for the company - both channels going down together - affecting revenue. I can only assume it is either down to a power cut or the recent weather.
couldn't sleep last night cos of heat!!! so i tuned to screenshop
bid-up.tv screenshop was fine all night/morning but price-drop.tv screenshop around about 1am just stopped and only showed the screenshop logo, then about 20mins later green flashes kept appearing and this continued for the good part of the night/morning, dont know when and if it stopped, but hope this helps
Just had a look to see whether BU/PD and Screenshop were all in the same building, which could have been the reason why all 3 have been off air - but apparently they are not!
Media UK lists Screenshop as being in Great Portland Street, and Bid Up and Price Drop are actually just a few minutes away from me here in Acton! (A little back alley called Warple Way!) - Not sure though whether the addresses Media UK gives are either just offices for the channels or the actual studio addresses...
Maybe it's a power problem, and they only have enough power to operate one channel. So falling price auctions from Bid-up.tv on the price-drop channel number (on FreeView).
