The original pilot Teletext Digital on DTT (from before they changed their logo) did actually have page numbers in addition to the menu system to allow for direct navigation. Why they got rid of them is beyond me.
Sky Digital Text also used to have page numbers. TV was 600 onwards. Much quicker than going through 101 menu screens.
