Where have all the news presenters gone? Breakfast was presented by Sian and Darren, ITV Evening News was with Katie Derham and Mark Austin. Where have they all gone...?

I know, at some point, every slot of BBC News on BBC ONE and News 24 has been presented by different people. Just to mention a few:

Geeta Guru-Murthy
Brenda Paterson
Jon Kay
Fergus Nicoll
David Shukman
Mike Embley
Chris Eakin
Liz Pike

All of these have filled in all over the place. I notice Peter Dobbie is off for the next few weeks, as Peter Coe is doing 2300-0100 bulletins!

Yes, you're right! Presenters do need a break! You seem to forget they have normal lives!!

Do you think they are testing out new pairings in new time slots ready for the relaunch?

Today it was Simon McCoy and Natasha Kaplinsky on Sunrise then Allan King and Fiona Middlehurst (sp?) on 10 - 4. Not sure about now...

Think they must take these holidays very rapidly. I mean the other day Sian was presenting the BBC News at Six main programme and then when they rejoin at 6.55 it was Michael Buerk presenting! IT's happened a couple of times now - Peter Sissons did the update the once. They should have the same person for both seeing that it is meant to be an incorporated programme now.

Yeah, but it only happens when it has to I expect - a commitment that the BBC has arranged or another BBC programme (as Sian went to do Dispatch Box, Fiona goes to do Crimewatch). A maximum of ten times in two years isn't bad...
