All year, and if you look back over the forum over its life time, there seems to be discontent with the current state of branding on TV in general, we could go over old ground and repeat our selfs about how bad X is or Y or why there no money here or there, and the lack of logos not helping.
Instead lets talk about what you really like, across the broad. What stands out from any channel your seen, I like quest presentation, its quirky yet very straight forward, plus it has logo. If you look what the channel has done over the year its has special pres surrounding/ bolted on to the main package like father day or snooker of late:
What does everyone else like?

For a modern take on a retro idea, I absolutely adore what Channel 4 did with the blocks in its idents for the news and The Simpsons, as well as the two Christmas idents (Snowman and Snow). More like those would appeal to me.

That is a big question and sometimes it is the things that on paper which don't sound great which actually work such as the viewer based idents from C4 and BBC1 in recent werks and days. Agree with Andrew though C4 should be looking at expanding the blocks idea for their idents. Conceptual idents with minimal branding aren't working for C4 or C5 at the moment.

You've not seen their other Christmas idents and stings? They're very good

Sky1's current pres package has grown on me for all the good reasons - it's an improvement over the poor pres introduced in February 2011, and it's actually gained back its personality that it lost from said pres package, through the '1' that is the focal point for the idents. It's also bearing some similarities to BBC TWO and Channel 4, when the focus of the idents is on the numeral.
A huge improvement, and it sits comfortably with the 'Onc' and Solids idents as decent presentation for Sky1.
